Good afternoon Bennett Families,
After about a year of extensive research and community engagement, the Board of Education during Tuesday night’s meeting voted in favor of changing bell schedules beginning in the 2019-20 school year. The vote was 7 to 0, following considerable debate among Board Directors.
After analyzing District staff’s final report on the school start-times exploration, and considering myriad community input and potential effects, the Board decided to implement Modified Scenario B, which was created in direct response to feedback from the community.
I am attaching the new bell schedules to this email so that you can see how this affects Bennett as well as other schools across the district. While this is the schedule that was voted on, it could possibly change by just a minute or two on either end. District leadership will begin discussing potential adjustments and solutions beginning with our next Principals’ meeting on December 4th. You will be receiving regular and ongoing communication regarding any issues that would impact our school community.
Please know that we are in the very preliminary stages of this transition. I wanted to get this email out to you as soon as possible and will be updating you as I receive more information about how this change might impact our school. We will need some time to deal with some of the major decisions as we process through what this means for our school and district. I will be happy to answer any questions that I can as we embark on this journey together. Thank you!
