Greetings, Bennett families!

As we begin the 2025-26 school year, I am pleased to introduce myself as your child's math teacher, Mr. Kurt Woolner. After teaching 3rd grade at Bennett for the past three years, I am excited to begin a new chapter this year teaching math to students in grades 2, 4, and 5.

Working with students across multiple grade levels is a wonderful opportunity. It allows me to build relationships with students over time, witness their growth, and help them develop the mathematical skills and confidence they will carry with them throughout their academic journey.

I firmly believe that elementary education lays the foundation for lifelong learners. By providing positive experiences and celebrating each child's successes, we foster a curiosity and inquisitiveness that will stay with them throughout their lives. In math, I especially want students to see themselves as capable problem-solvers who can make sense of challenging ideas, learn from mistakes, and take ownership of their learning.

Before pursuing teaching, I had a career in business management. However, I decided I needed to make a meaningful change and, in 2009, earned my teaching license from WGU. I previously taught 4th grade at Laurel Elementary, and at Bennett, I have had the privilege of serving as the Media Specialist, Site Assessment Coordinator, and IB Coordinator. I also spent 10 years teaching technology at Bennett before returning to the classroom and teaching 3rd grade for three years.

I am dedicated to creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment for every student. I believe students should take an active role in their education, with the support and encouragement of the adults around them. Together, with your support and collaboration, we will make this school year a truly enriching and successful one for your children.
